We spend our afternoons catching these little ladies...

Emma is just plain fascinated with them.

We catch them in the unoccupied fields by our house. We pick wildflowers there too.

The little ladybugs crawl all over Emma, and she just loves it. Catching them is like therapy :)

I have these in my front yard, and they are growing pretty well.

Although I am wishing that I had all of these colors...so pretty. I probably should have bought them at the Strawberry Farm, but I didn't.

After we catch the ladybugs, we release them into our vegetable garden.

Which is growing too...

We've got squash, zucchini, cucumber, pepper and tomato blossoms.

We catch frogs too.

Emma just loves that too.

But don't let the bugs and frogs fool ya. She catches them in her sparkle shoes with skinned up legs :)

And Buddy just does his very own thing...

I love his little chunky legs :)

::craft:: Garden Tags

We needed tags for our garden, so I figured out a way for Miss Emma to help...

I made my own tags on the computer, and let her do all of the coloring...

She had a lot of fun coloring all of the fruits and veggies. I found the black and white clip art online from goodness knows where and cranked out about 25 of these suckers. Then, I cut them out and had them laminated for about three bucks.

While we colored, Buddy ate his staples: turkey, cheese, and dried cranberries or raisins.

Sometimes he's sad...

Sometimes he's silly...

And, sometimes he's happy. But he always has pretty blue eyes and will always share his kisses.

My first attempt at getting our little tags in the ground was super unsuccessful. I tried popsicle sticks glued to the backs of the tags. Our wind blew them away. Then I tried popsicle sticks stapled to the tags. The stapler split the popsicle stick. So, I ended up taping (with packaging tape) a horseshoe-shaped piece of wire to the back of each tag...which has worked! Our garden ended up looking like this...

I hope something ends up growing here...

If you would like to make the garden tags, but want minimal effort, email me and I will send you the Microsoft Word attachment. You can change the names of the veggies if you need to. I know I have Strawberry, Cantaloupe, Broccoli, Jalapeno, Serrano, Sweet Red Pepper, Sweet Yellow Pepper, Squash, Zucchini, several types of Lettuce, Tomato, and Cucumber. I have tags for my herbs too, but those don't have photos to color :)

dig, squirm & wiggle

while rob dug the garden, miss emma played with these little guys. she was in love with the earthworms.

my hubby was SO sweet to build me a garden this year. he worked SO hard and did such a great job. i love him.

we wanted a garden last year, but we were sorta busy with this little guy being born.

miss emma helped her daddy dig.

she loves her daddy and loves to get dirty, so this project was just perfect for her.

we still have our moments. do you see the look in rob's eyes?

it's because miss emma was pouting...about what, i honestly don't remember.

she cheered right up....

and buddy enjoyed his time in the yard.

he's cutting his two top teeth. can you see them?

so, he was sort of crabby all weekend, and definitely not happy in here....

that will make four little teeth for our little guy. he has his bottom two too.
