fly little birdie...

fly, fly away. This little guy was just about to leave the nest for the very first time, and we were all there to watch. I find baby birds and their parents just fascinating...don't you?
DSC_0683

His sibling, on the other hand, wasn't quite ready to spread his wings and fly. They're all different, aren't they? They built their home in an umbrella, right next to my parents' pool. Clever choice for a home; they'll never get wet :)
DSC_0680

While we were there for the weekend, Emma swam her little heart out. This was our last swim in their pool, before the big move.
DSC_0698

I have decided that Emma sees my mom as a bestie. As in a best friend. They are funny together, let me tell you.
DSC_0702

Carson hung out with all of us on the deck.
DSC_0713

Even though he clawed his face, isn't he just so so cute?
DSC_0720

I think so. We had a blast hanging out with our family and came home with loads of loot. I'll post about that later.

take me out...

to the ball game. This was Emma's first one, and she went with her Daddy. It was just the two of them.
DSC_0656

I'm the camera nut, which is why I am in so few photos. And, of course Rob politely refused to take the camera along to document the event, so I documented before they left...
DSC_0666

She was so excited, just radiating energy! I had the afternoon to myself, with just Carson, so I was in heaven too. When she came home, she told me all about it. Including the old McDonald's for lunch on the way, the ice cream, the popcorn, and the pizza on the way home. All of which were healthy food choices...right?

her favorite color is yellow

so, we I bought her a brand new yellow bathing suit.
DSC_0593

We went to the neighborhood bbq at the splash pad, and she did just that...splashed!
DSC_0601

Her very favorite friend was there too.
DSC_0600

Carson was wearing one of my very favorite outfits. It was a gift from Coco.
DSC_0604

Although, I never got a really good shot.
DSC_0606

Rob and I watched Emma splash and play. Since we are celebrating the color yellow, I am currently waiting on yellow crocs to come in the mail. I had to order her new ones. The hot pink ones disappeared, and yes, it is driving me crazy....very, very crazy.
DSC_0615

It was so hot, but she managed to stay cool.
DSC_0625

She just loves it here.
DSC_0629

I took lots of photos...
DSC_0633

Until, finally she said, "Mommy will you please stop?" And so, we headed home :)

when the sun came up...

We loaded up our bunch and headed out to the blackberry farm.
DSC_0512

We took these two along. Can you tell they're besties?
DSC_0570

Daddy was on vacation, so he came along too.
DSC_0514

Even though I grew up in East Texas,
DSC_0505

I had never seen these little guys on the bush. I only know them in their little clear boxes for about $4 a pop.
DSC_0515

The girls managed to stay away from the stickers and from this little guy. He looks super nice, right?
DSC_0535

Emma got distracted by the animals.
DSC_0545

There were more than just a few...
DSC_0547

I finally managed to coax her back to the patch...
DSC_0530

I wanted her to pick more of these...
DSC_0521

Of course, Carson was along for the ride...poor little guy.
DSC_0548

I love them both so much.
DSC_0556

We even managed to get a family photo.
DSC_0553

I think I mentioned before that she could be a little farm girl...
DSC_0576

I am still convinced.

where the green grass grows

We have greeted the warm weather here with open arms.
DSC_0346

Our sandbox has been busy...
DSC_0331

We've been hanging out in the backyard...
DSC_0356

Giggling...
DSC_0371

Playing in the fort...
DSC_0453

Walking barefoot in the grass. My sweet hubby has already succeeded in turning it into a lush, thick, green carpet, and it's only May.
DSC_0454

We've been tricycling and chalking, which wouldn't be complete without zebra and "sir raf." Thanks Papa!
DSC_0495

And growing....basil...yum, yum!
DSC_0494

This sweet little girl made me an herb garden for Mother's Day. She had a lot of help from her daddy of course.
DSC_0496

Here it is...I have enjoyed it so much! You will find me on the front porch clipping almost every night.
DSC_0493

And since we're talking green, here's chives...
DSC_0484

And mint...
DSC_0485

And dill...
DSC_0486

And italian parsley...
DSC_0488

And oregano...
DSC_0489

And rosemary...
DSC_0490

I have sage, thyme, and cilantro too. Now, I am waiting for this one to bloom. Emma's got beans growing in the kitchen. You know, how we did in first grade? With a ziploc baggy and a wet paper towel? I just planted tarragon this morning, and Emma planted zinnia seeds in a pot. I think we are doing pretty well in the growing department :) Although, now I want a garden...a real one with tomatoes and peppers and squash, and green beans, and cantaloupe...and...I think I might need Rob's help for that one...maybe next year?
DSC_0498

Here's my favorite thing that's growing at our house right now. He will be three months tomorrow. They grow so fast the first year. He sleeps through the night on occasion, but generally wakes around 4 or 5 am for a feeding. Somehow, I don't really mind. He naps four times a day and eats six times a day.
DSC_0333

He laughs now, which is just beautiful.
DSC_0461

And he has already attempted to roll over. He didn't get far, but nonetheless, he tried. I love my children and love to watch them grow. If only I could get them to grow a little slower.
